Silent Night.....

Instead of focusing my thoughts on positive things like the holidays, and Christmas and merry good tidings... I've been on the sick and shut in list since I left work on Friday... coughing like crazy, medicating and feeling like this.......

I really want to be happy and in the holiday spirit, it's just been difficult in light of the way my year has been going. I keep thinking about the past two Christmas seasons, I keep reminscing on what once was, the memories and moments I shared with someone that is no longer a part of my life & it is really putting a damper on my holiday season. I'm not trying to be a grinch, but at the current moment I am really hurting & not feeling the holidays. But I digress.....

The majority of my friends are out of town spending the holidays with their families, and the ones who are here have been slightly m.i.a. so I went to a party on my own Friday night. It was at an upscale restaurant and had I not been feeling the way I do I probably would have really enjoyed it more....but again I digress.... I'm just happy that I don't look the way I have been feeling on the inside. -coughs uncontrollably-

And, that's about all I have in me for tonight.....

The weekend.

This weekend was rather eventful. We had our office holiday party at Grotto, which is an extremely nice restaurant near the Galleria here in town. I indulged in everything that came near my fork. We heard the news of what had occurred in Connecticut during the party, and chills ran through everyone. It was hard to fathom, just the severity of the tragedy seemed unreal......

After my work party was over, I met one of my old co-workers for happy hour and catching up... I was ready for bed by 9, and called it a night...

On Saturday morning, I slept in and then ran errands before heading out to the 30th birthday party of one of my oldest friends... She and I have been friends since the 7th grade... She was new to our middle school and I was soooooo jealous of her Nike tennis skirts and herringbone flats, hahahahahahahahaha (typing that makes me feel so old school)I used to live vicariously through her outfits because I did not have the body for any of them.... at least not until high school. I have so many memories of our almost 20 years of friendship and I am sooo happy that we are still good friends today.

I had an amazing time at her party. There was food, a DJ, a bartender and tons of good vibes. We turned her living room into the hottest party spot around. It was line dance central!!!! I'm so fortunate to have been able to share the moment with her.

After her party, I went to two other spots... my second stop for the night was a toy drive/party at a museum. I dropped off my toys, walked around for a few minutes then headed to the final destination of the night, which was a crowded lounge. My friend and I waited in line for awhile, finally got in and owned the stage for a while. Not sure why we were feeling ourselves so much, but we had a great time pretending to be young again and headed home for the night....

I spent the majority of my Sunday resting and watching CNN & the memorial service that was held in memory of those lost. Still hard to comprehend it all......

On an unrelated note, for some reason I have been super paranoid about posting pictures online... I like blog posts that are picture heavy, but with the way the world has been going lately I think I will start to scale back and post the majority of my photos on Instagram (only approved followers can see my photos on there)so if you would like to SEE exactly what I have been doing please let me know your username and I will add you :-)

In Remembrance.....

Lord please keep them near to you....

beauty

The holiday season is in full swing, and my calendar is packed all the way up until the New Year. Outside of having a relaxed Christmas, the next couple of weeks are filled with office parties, birthday celebrations, and a ton of other holiday parties & happenings...

This weekend one of my girlfriends from high school (soooo many moons ago) got married to her college sweetheart & when I tell you I had a good time...I definitely mean it! (I looked like I had a good time when I woke up this morning, and had to have a hair intervention with the flat iron, lol) She was the epitome of beauty, and it was evident just how strongly she felt for her new husband. It was great seeing so many of my old friends from high school, reminscing, dancing & laughing...but most importantly celebrating the new bride!

It seems like only yesterday, we were freshman in high school discussing fashion, obsessing over Candie's heels and enjoying the carefree life. The venue was amazing, and BOTH of her dresses were simply breathtaking. It's so inspiring to see people who truly love each other come together, with God as the head of their household. It gives me hope <3

Wednesday words....

It's been another long day, but I saw these on Facebook floating around and they made perfect sense......
